President of Galien Africa, Prof. Awa Marie Coll Seck is an internationally recognized infectious disease specialist, former Senior Minister to the President of the Republic of Senegal, and twice Minister of Health of Senegal (2001–2003 and 2012–2017). She served as Executive Director of the Roll Back Malaria Partnership from 2004 to 2012 and previously led the Department of Policy, Strategy and Research at UNAIDS. She currently serves on the boards and advisory bodies of several leading global health organizations, including Gavi, VillageReach, Resolve to Save Lives, Grand Challenges Canada, the United Nations University International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH), etc. In 2017, she was named the World's Best Minister of Health at the World Government Summit in Dubai. In May 2025, she received the WHO Director-General's Award for Global Health in recognition of her lifetime achievements and outstanding contribution to global health.
