Dr John Nkengasong

Dr John Nkengasong, Executive Director, Higher Education, Collaboratives and Strategic Initiatives, Mastercard Foundation. As founding Director of Africa CDC and later United States Global AIDS Coordinator, he led the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the largest single-disease commitment by any nation, credited since 2003 with saving over 20 million lives. During Africa CDC's COVID-19 response, his leadership secured 400 million vaccine doses for the continent. At the Mastercard Foundation, he now builds networks for the next generation of African health leaders and scholars.
