Bereket Taye Mekonnen

I am a Public Health Emergency Management (PHEM) Officer at the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), working to strengthen disease surveillance, early warning systems, and emergency preparedness and response. My work includes supporting the implementation and use of DHIS2 and the electronic Public Health Emergency Management (ePHEM) system to improve surveillance, outbreak detection, data quality, interoperability, and evidence-based decision-making. I am passionate about health intelligence, digital health, data analytics, and the application of innovative technologies, including artificial intelligence, to strengthen public health systems. Through the HICA Community of Practice, I look forward to exchanging knowledge, learning from colleagues across Africa, and sharing Ethiopia's experiences in building resilient, data-driven public health systems.
