Dr Biniam Taye

I am a Public Health Informatics researcher and Health Information Systems specialist at Ethiopia’s Ministry of Health, with more than 15 years of experience across facility, subnational, and national levels. I hold a PhD in Public Health Informatics. My work focuses on strengthening routine health information systems, improving data quality and use, evaluating health-system interventions, and translating evidence into practical decisions. I apply quantitative, qualitative, implementation research, and data science approaches to health service performance and digital health challenges. I am currently contributing to Ethiopia’s efforts to establish a National Health Intelligence Centre. My interests include health intelligence systems, responsible health AI, advanced and predictive analytics, data governance, interoperability, and the integration of routine, research, surveillance, and other data sources for decision-making. Through the NHIC Community of Practice, I look forward to exchanging practical experiences, learning from other countries, and contributing to the development of sustainable, government-led health intelligence systems that transform data into better policies, services, and health outcomes.
